Pakistan has one of the world’s biggest gender digital divides. When women are online, they often face abuse, blackmail and threats - sometimes spilling over into real life violence, such as the murder of social media star Qandeel Baloch last year. We will tell the story of the resistance; the fast-growing internet activism led by Pakistani women striving for gender equality and justice - both online and offline. Making comparisons with the UK and Afghanistan, we will weave the human stories behind a series of groundbreaking feminist tech initiatives into a narrative about the increasingly powerful pushback of women online.
