Teenage pregnancy, violence against women and girls, early and forced marriage, high maternal mortality, STDs and STI infection rates; these topics are well covered. But almost always, both by European and African media, young African women are reported as having no agency.
Through film, photojournalism and written features, this project aims to tell the stories of some of the heterosexual and queer individuals - mostly women - who are part of a growing pan-African feminist movement that challenges cultural norms, and even international development practice and claws open space for a more holistic view of sexual and reproductive health that includes bodily autonomy, and sexual pleasure.
