Franziska Badenschier is a freelance science journalist specialised in neglected (tropical) diseases, public health and global health, health systems in developing countries and Millennium Development Goals as well as, most recently, ebola. For her research she travels to low and middle income countries like Madagascar, Uganda and Haiti. Her pieces are published by German radio channels such as Deutschlandfunk and online media such as spektrum.de. She holds both an MA and BA in Science Journalism with an emphasis on Life Science and Medicine. She was awarded among others "Top Ten Science Journalists 2014" by the German medium magazin.
Through on the ground reporting and the production of a radio series, this project sheds a light on five diseases or health conditions that occur especially in the developing world but are neglected, or not well understood.
