Eloisa d'Orsi, 37, is a freelance photographer based in Spain. Born in France, she has a degree in Visual Anthropology. In 2001, she interned at Magnum Photos in Paris and at Vu agency as photo editor for the international press. During the past 3 years, she has been working extensively on migrant issues in Italy and the rest of Europe on a long-term project about border policing in the Schengen area. She documented the displacement of the Syrian population in Bulgaria, the escalation of the crisis in Ukraine and the Crimean independence referendum, and more recently, the latest Israeli military operation in Gaza. Her work has been published in the Italian and international press, including Internazionale, La Stampa, Repubblica.it, Il Manifesto, GEO, Die Zeit, Il Sole 24 Ore and New York Magazine.
Over 2.8 billion people in the world lack access to proper sanitation, putting human security in jeopardy. This project highlights the impact of this human development failure in India and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
