Rue89 is a French news website started by former journalists working for the newspaper Libération. It officially launched in 2007, on the day of the second round of the French presidential election. Since then, it has built a reputation for exclusive news stories and innovative articles on social and cultural issues. In 2012, the website won the general excellence award in non-English online journalism. It is now the 10th most frequented French general news site.
In March 2014, Rue89 and the Global Editors Network launched the first French MOOC about digital journalism.
In this web-based interactive reportage, the user has to face all great dilemmas of Haiti's recovery process, make decisions to levy international fund pledges, prioritise tasks, organise reconstructions and fight government inaction.
